What we cater

Two ways to do it

Most Pittsburgh catering enquiries are one of these two. They need different answers from us, so the quote form asks which one first.

Catering — we come to you

We cook it and bring it to your office, site or home. Trays, boxed sandwiches and breakfast spreads, delivered set up and ready to serve.

  • Office breakfasts and working lunches
  • Meetings, training days, client visits
  • Minimum 10 people
  • Rentals — tables, chairs, linens — arranged on request

Catering + event space — you come to us

Hold the event in one of our cafes and we cater it in place. The Strip District room is open now; Brentwood opens in 2026.

  • Private breakfasts, lunches and receptions
  • Full-service events from 25 guests
  • Tastings available for events of 50+
  • Up to around 200 for a standing reception

How it works

Three steps, no runaround

  1. 1

    Tell us about it

Date, headcount, where it is going and anything we need to cook around. One form, two minutes — or call the kitchen.

  2. 2

    We send a proposal

A written quote with the menu, quantities and any rentals itemised separately, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

  3. 3

    We cook and deliver

Made the morning of, delivered set up and labelled. Full-service events get staff on site.

Our approach

Exceptional catering starts with exceptional ingredients

We work directly with local farmers and producers for the freshest seasonal offerings, and we bake our own bread — the ciabatta, focaccia, scones and English muffins on this menu are made in our kitchen, not bought in.

Our catering team brings the same attention to detail that defines the cafe to your event. Whether it is an intimate dinner for ten or a reception for two hundred, we build the menu around what you are actually trying to do.

Questions

Catering questions, answered

What is the minimum order for catering?

For drop-off catering our minimum is 10 people. For full-service events the minimum is 25 guests.

How far in advance should I book catering in Pittsburgh?

We recommend at least 2–3 weeks for drop-off catering and 4–6 weeks for full-service events. Busy weeks around the holidays go sooner than that, so if you have a date, send it to us early — even before the headcount is settled.

How many people does a catering tray serve?

A large tray serves 20 and a small tray serves 10. Every tray price on this page is for a large tray. Breakfast spreads are priced per person instead, and sandwiches are priced individually.

How much does catering cost per person?

It depends what you order. As a guide from the menu above: breakfast runs $16.95–$18.95 per person, sandwiches are $19.95 each, and a large tray that serves 20 runs $75–$185 depending on the dish. A written quote with your actual quantities is the number that holds.

Do you cater breakfast for offices and meetings?

Yes — breakfast is what we do most. The Country Breakfast is a full spread of scrambled eggs, bacon, French toast batons and breakfast potatoes at $18.95 per person; croissant breakfast sandwiches are $16.95 per person; and a Fresh Pastry Box of house-baked scones and English muffins is $70 per dozen.

Can you accommodate gluten-free, vegan and other dietary restrictions?

Yes. We handle vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and most allergy-related restrictions. Gluten-free bread is available on any sandwich, the Veggie Wrap and Portabella Melt are built vegetarian, and the Muffaletta can be made veggie. Tell us the restrictions when you enquire so they are costed into the quote rather than fixed on the morning.

Can we hold our event at the cafe instead of having it delivered?

Yes. Choose "Catering + Event Space" on the quote form and tell us which location. Our Strip District cafe at 2009 Penn Ave is open for this now, and Brentwood opens in 2026. Full-service events start at 25 guests and we have run receptions up to around 200.

Do you provide tables, chairs and linens?

Yes — we arrange rentals through trusted partners. They appear as separate itemised lines on your proposal, so you can see what is food and what is kit.

Do you offer tastings before we book?

Yes, for full-service events with a minimum guest count of 50. Tastings are scheduled after an initial consultation and once a proposal has been put together.

What is the payment schedule and do you take a deposit?

Full-service events take a 50% deposit to secure the date, with the balance due 7 days before the event. Drop-off catering is paid in full at the time of ordering.

What is your cancellation policy?

Drop-off catering needs 48 hours' notice to cancel. For full-service events the policy depends on the size and scope of the event and is set out in your contract.

Do you cater hot food, or only cold trays?

Both. Hot trays serving 20 include Grilled Chicken Breast at $145, Grilled Salmon at $180 and our House Smoked Brisket Hash at $185, alongside hot sides like roasted green beans, roasted seasonal vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes.

Can you cater a large event — 100 guests or more?

Yes. We cater anything from an intimate dinner for 10 to a reception for around 200. Larger events sit at the 4–6 week end of the lead time, and bigger numbers are where the tray maths starts to matter — each large tray covers 20 guests.

How do I get a catering quote?

Fill in the quote form below, email catering@caferaymond.com, or call the kitchen on (412) 912-6009. We come back with a written proposal: menu, quantities, and any rentals itemised separately.
